We’re a city family through and through, which is fun most of the time, except when it comes to space! With two tight bedrooms, it quickly became clear we needed bunk beds for our boys, and fast. Like any modern parent, I turned to Amazon. A few weeks later, the bed arrived, but after six hours of painstaking assembly, it was extremely wobbly and downright unsafe. After a few months of dealing with it, we decided it was time for something safer and sturdier. That’s when I found the Lido Wave Convertible Bunk Bed from Babyletto.
What we love
- Super sturdy construction
- Gorgeous aesthetics to make mom and kids happy
- Non-toxic paints used that exceed ASTM standards
- Easily convertible to a loft and twin bed
- Inspired by Montessori principals, making it easy for kids to learn and grow with it
The not so good parts
- On the pricier side of kids furniture
- Darker wood than shown in the pictures, though still beautiful shade
Meet Babyletto – Now for Big Kids, Too
I’m no stranger to Babyletto (check out my thoughts on their changing table/dresser combo here), but I was excited to learn they recently launched a kids’ line for when little ones outgrow the nursery. The collection includes beds, tables, dressers, and toy storage… and spoiler: it’s even cuter than you’d imagine. It’s not easy for modern brands to design something that both parents and kids love, but Babyletto may have pulled it off. With beautiful lines and playful touches, this line is something you and your kiddo can truly adore.

The boys’ room looks fresh and modern (and safe!).
What really sold me on the Lido bunk bed in particular (beyond the looks) was how convertible it is. You can easily convert the bed from bunks into a twin bed or a low loft, making it a staple piece for the long haul. No matter where we move next, this thing is coming with us!
Our Take on Assembly
After ordering, delivery took about 4-8 days. Usually, I can kind of forget about packages with a longer lead time (Amazon, you have made me an impatient woman!), but this is one I was truly excited to receive. I was ON the tracking each day. The bunk bed arrived in 2 separate boxes, one lighter and one that was super heavy, probably over 70 lbs. We excitedly hauled it inside and my sweet husband got to work assembling the bed.
He was in between work calls assembling it, but if I had to guess, I’d say assembly probably took him an hour or an hour and a half, max. He is a pretty handy guy, but this is by far one of the easier pieces we’ve assembled, especially when comparing it to the previous bunk beds we had. Once he got it all put together, I was able to toss our mattresses on it and get it all cozy.
Aesthetics and the Kid Test
We’d put the kids to sleep in our room while we were assembling, but we were too excited to wait until morning to see their reaction. So we woke them up around 9 p.m., and even half-asleep, they were over the moon. My oldest hugged me and said, “Thank you for the new bunk beds, Mom!” They giggled and played for a few minutes before snuggling back in, totally thrilled with their new setup.
I’ll forever cherish watching them jump into their new bed. There’s a TikTok trend going around right now where little kids say, “When I’m 80, this is the place I’ll come back to in my mind.” Honestly, that’s exactly how this moment felt for me.
My mind even wandered to:, “Is this the bed they’ll have until they move out?” While that’s probably not the case, the quality seems like it could hold up that long. Even when I climb up to make the bed, it does not wobble at all… thankfully! Perhaps my favorite part is how high the top bunk “lip” is. There is no way a kid can roll out of there with about a foot clearance from the mattress to the top of the bunk on the inside.

Worth the Pricetag?
I haven’t mentioned it yet, but the bunk bed is on the pricier side, especially for a kids’ bed, coming in at nearly $1,200 for the natural colorway. That said, after paying $300 for our last bunk bed-slash-house-of-cards on Amazon, I’d buy this one again in a heartbeat. Some things are worth the investment, and your kids’ sleep and spaces are definitely one of them. Babyletto has never steered me wrong, and this just proves again why they’re an award-winning brand. Style and safety are hard to find together, so when you do, you’ve gotta add to cart… ASAP.
